Dr Sandeep Kumar joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, DAV University, Jalandhar, in August 2013. He completed his Ph.D (Physics) on the topic “Study of photo diffusion in Germanium Antimony Telluride thin films” from Guru Nanak Dev University, Department of Physics, Amritsar, India. During his Ph.D, he worked on phase-change materials for the potential application in non-volatile optical and electrical memories. His Ph.D thesis work was to investigate the effect of photo-diffused Ag in GeSbTe phase-change chalcogenide thin films in terms of electrical and optical properties. He has characterized the sample films with techniques such as XRD, UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer, ToF-SIMS, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, FESEM, AFM, EPMA etc. He has published work in reputed applied physics journals and has a total of 46 publications in journals of international repute. Currently, he is working on heterogeneous catalysis of dye photodegradation for water remediation with a suitable catalyst. His research interests are amorphous semiconductors, phase-change materials, photo-diffusion, nanomaterials, and heterogeneous photocatalysis. He has qualified CSIR (JRF)-NET and GATE exams. He is a life member of Thermo-physical Society of India (TPSI) and Indian Association of Physics Teachers.
