Dr. Praveen Kumar joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, DAV University, Jalandhar in August 2013. He did his PhD from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 2008 in the field of glassy semiconductors and thin films. He is the recipient of prestigious research awards and fellowships such as CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship (Extended), Research Associate from CSIR, New Delhi and Fast Track Young Scientist award from DST, New Delhi. He has established the Semiconductors Laboratory in this University with facilities such as fluorescence spectrometer, spin coater, high temperature furnace and tube furnance.
He has continuously contributed in SCI indexed journals since 2006 i.e. last 16 years and authored more than 75 research papers in reputed international journals. His current research interests are transparent conducting oxides, polymer nanocomposites and polyblends, metal sulfide based plasmonic materials and graphene based nanohybdrids etc. He has guided one Ph.D. student and presently guiding three more students for Ph.D. degrees.He is a life member of International Forum of Chalcogeniders (Romania) and Thermo-physical Society of India (India).
