Expert Talk on Promoting Healthy Hearts Organized at DAV University
 
DAV University organized an expert talk aimed at raising awareness about heart-related medical issues and their prevention. The event, hosted by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in collaboration with the Pharmacy Welfare Society, Punjab, featured renowned medical experts Dr. Amardeep Markan, a Cardiologist, and Dr. Bikramjit Singh, a Neurosurgeon.
During the session, Dr. Amardeep Markan highlighted that a lack of awareness about cardiovascular health, combined with certain lifestyle habits, has made cardiovascular diseases one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. The event was also graced by the presence of several esteemed guests, including Dr. Dalip Pandey; Dr. SPS Khurana, Chairman of the Pharmacy Welfare Society; and Assistant Professors Dharmender Jaglan, Rahul Mehra, Sapna Sharma, and Shanu Priya.

 

 

Health Checkup Camp Organized at DAV University
 
A health checkup camp was organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, DAV University, on 30-09-23. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the university.
Students from the Pharmacy Department conducted essential health checkups, which were attended not only by university faculty but also by students from other departments. The tests included hemoglobin level analysis, blood group determination, and BMI measurement.
At the conclusion of the camp, the Pharmacy Faculty honored the participating students for their contributions.

 

 

CPR Awareness Camp Organized at DAV University
 
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at DAV University organized an online CPR Awareness Camp on 06-12-23, following the guidelines of the Pharmacy Council of India. The one-hour session aimed to educate students about CPR and saw active participation from B.Pharm and D.Pharm students, along with the presence of all faculty members from the Pharmacy Department. The program concluded with Mr. S.P.S. Khurana providing practical insights and demonstrations to the students. 

 

 

Expert Talk on Tuberculosis at DAV University
 
DAV University organized an expert talk to raise awareness about Tuberculosis and its prevention. The event, held under the aegis of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, featured distinguished experts in the field of medicine, including Dr. Amritpal Kaur, a pulmonologist, and Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, on 24th March 2024, coinciding with National TB Day.
During the session, Dr. Amritpal Kaur emphasized that a lack of awareness regarding respiratory health, combined with certain lifestyle habits, has contributed to respiratory diseases becoming a leading cause of mortality worldwide. The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Dean of the Department, who also served as the session's resource person

 

 

Industrial Visit at Kwality Pharmaceutical in Amritsar
 
On 1 March 2024, Students from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences ,DAV University visited Kwality Pharmaceutical ,Amritsar. The visit was invaluable learning experience that gave students an in-depth understanding of Quality Control Test conducted on formulations.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoratical knowledge and real world applications by offering insights in to quality control measures in place within a leading Pharmaceutical Company.

 

 

Hospital Visit at PIMS in Jalandhar
 
On 7-11-2023 Students from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences ,DAV University visited Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences ,Jalandhar. The visit was invaluable learning experience that gave students opportunity to personal interact with patients and doctors.
The Primary objective of this visit was to provide students with first hand exposure with patients and medicines.
During the visit, Dr. Amarjit Singh explained to the students about medicines and Prescriptions.

 

 

Field Visit at DAV Ayurvedic College in Jalandhar
 
On 19-09-2024 The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized an educational visit for students to DAV Ayurvedic College in Jalandhar. Students gained practical experience in Ayurvedic medicine formulations, witnessing how traditional methods combine with modern science to create holistic healthcare solutions.
The Primary objective of this visit was to provide students with first hand exposure with manufacturing, packaging and labeling of medicines.

 

 

Field Visit at Apahaj Ashram in Jalandhar
 
On 19-09-2024 The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized an educational visit for students to Apahaj Ashram, an old age home in Jalandhar. While visiting the ashram, the students distributed essential household items to the residents and spent meaningful time with them.
They also shared valuable insights on maintaining a healthy diet and safe use of medications. The experience was truly humbling, underscoring the importance of empathy and human connection in healthcare.

 

 

Science Fest at DAV University
 
On 28th Feb,2024 Naional Science Day was celebrated at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, DAV University ,Jalandhar, Under the visionary guidance of our worthy Vice Chancellor ,Prof(Dr.)Manoj Kumar. The day was packed with enriching experiences aimed at igniting the curiosity of students. Pharmacy students actively participated and showed their talent in various scientific activities. Our esteemed Vice Chancellor personally awarded prizes to winners of all activities.

 

 

Expert Talk on CANCER at DAV University
 
Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences observed World Cancer Day with an engaging and insightful session aimed at raising awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. The event featured expert lecture from Dr. Yogesh Gupta and Dr. Himanshu Srivastava, Renowned oncologist from Capitol Hospital in Jalandhar. Both doctors shared their expertise on the latest advancement in cancer care, emphasizing the importance of timely diagnosis and adopting a healthy lifestyle to reduce cancer risk.
Through such activities University aims to contribute to global efforts in cancer prevention and education. At the end Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Dean of Department the resource person and concluded the session.

 

 

Training Program on Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing Management at DAV University
 
Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a 5-Days Value-Added Training Program on “Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing Management” ,from 16th to 20th Sept. Over the course of Program, Students dived deep into the core aspects of pharmaceutical sales, marketing strategies, branding and navigating competitive markets. They explored everything from developing marketing plans, building customers relationships, and understanding regulatory frameworks, to analyzing case studies that reflect actual industry challenges.
The interactive sessions, guided by experienced trainers and mentors, allowed students to actively participate and engage with hands-on assignments.

 

 

DAV Pharma Fusion: From Lab to Industry
 
On November 13, 2024, the Pharmacy Department of DAV University organized the workshop "DAV Pharma Fusion: From Lab to Industry" to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial applications. With 163 participants, the event featured hands-on formulation development of tablets, syrups, ointments, and gels under expert guidance.

Guest speakers Dr. Rajni Thakur and Dr. Gagan Thakur from DAV Ayurveda College led interactive sessions on industry advancements and career transitions. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing outstanding student formulations. The workshop successfully provided students with practical experience, fostering innovation and preparing them for real-world pharmaceutical challenges.

 

 

Pharmacy Teachers' Day Celebration
 
On September 5, 2024, the Pharmacy Department of DAV University celebrated Teachers' Day with 121 participants, honouring educators for their dedication and contributions to students' academic and personal growth. The event featured cultural performances, heartfelt speeches, skits, and interactive games, all designed to express gratitude and appreciation for the teachers' unwavering support.

A special segment allowed students to share personal experiences and reflect on the profound impact their teachers have had on their journey. The atmosphere was filled with joy, admiration, and deep respect, as students acknowledged the values of integrity, perseverance, and knowledge imparted by their mentors. The celebration concluded with a token of appreciation presented to the faculty, leaving behind cherished memories and reinforcing the strong bond between teachers and students.

 

Sewage Treatment Plant Visit
 
On November 27, 2024, 44 Diploma in Pharmacy students, accompanied by faculty members Mrs. Sapna, Mr. Nitish, and Mr. Anish, visited the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at DAV University, Jalandhar. The objective was to provide students with practical insights into sewage treatment processes and their role in environmental management and public health. As part of their curriculum, students learned about various wastewater treatment methods and their significance in ensuring safe disposal.

The visit included a detailed briefing by the plant staff, who explained the infrastructure and advanced technology used to manage the university’s sewage and wastewater from academic buildings, hostels, and residential areas. The field trip successfully enhanced students’ theoretical and practical knowledge, reinforcing the importance of sustainable wastewater management.

 

 

Pharmacy Week Celebrations (8th – 14th November 2024) at DAV University
 
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at DAV University organized Pharmacy Week from 8th to 14th November 2024, featuring two major events aimed at connecting
academic learning with industrial practices. The department hosted a hands-on workshop, "DAV Pharma Fusion: From Lab to Industry", emphasizing practical pharmaceutical applications. Prof. Manoj Kumar (VC) and Dr. Sanjeev K. Arora (Registrar) inaugurated the event, highlighting the significance of practical training. Students engaged in formulation development, preparing tablets, syrups, ointments, and gels under expert guidance.

Dr. Rajni Thakur and Dr. Gagan Thakur from DAV Ayurveda College shared insights into pharmaceutical advancements. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing outstanding student formulations. World Diabetes Day Lecture at DAV University
 
On November 14, 2024, DAV University, Jalandhar, organized an informative lecture to commemorate World Diabetes Day, focusing on diabetes awareness, prevention, and management. With 47 participants, the event aimed to educate students and faculty on the rising prevalence of diabetes and the significance of early detection. Mr. Rahul Mehra as Assistant Professor led the session, discussing the global impact of diabetes, with a special emphasis on Type 2 diabetes and its increasing occurrence among young adults due to lifestyle choices. He explained key risk factors such as obesity, genetic predisposition, and sedentary habits, stressing the importance of regular health check-ups, balanced nutrition, and physical activity.

The session also covered advancements in diabetes treatment and research, offering practical insights into
disease management. The interactive discussion allowed participants to seek advice on diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications. The lecture concluded with a message of hope and encouragement, urging individuals to take proactive steps in diabetes prevention. The event proved to be an enriching learning experience, reinforcing the importance of awareness and action in combating diabetes.

 

 

Logo Design Competition at DAV University
 
On August 14, 2024, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at DAV University organized a Logo Design Competition on the theme "Elevate through Innovation: Startup Logo Designs." With 72 participants, the event aimed to inspire creativity, boost confidence, and enhance design skills among students. The competition provided a platform for artistic expression, encouraging participants to create visually appealing and meaningful logos that reflected innovation and purpose.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar (Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences), along with other faculty members, graced the event, offering motivation and support. A panel of faculty members and design experts evaluated the entries, providing valuable feedback to help students refine their creative approach. The competition fostered healthy competition,
innovation, and learning, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.

 

 

Diwali Carnival at DAV University
 
On October 16, 2024, DAV University, Jalandhar, hosted a grand Diwali Carnival, celebrating India's rich cultural diversity with vibrant exhibits, competitions, and festivities. Various university departments represented states like Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Bihar, and Gujarat, showcasing their traditions through food, attire, and cultural displays. The event featured Mehndi, Rangoli, Art, and Drawing competitions, judged by the Dean of Pharmacy and the Dean of Student Welfare.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences secured Second Prize for their outstanding creativity and representation. Entertainment included swings, dance performances, and music, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere. The inauguration and closing ceremony, led by special judges, recognized the students' efforts in promoting
India’s cultural heritage. Diwali, the Festival of Lights, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The carnival beautifully embodied this spirit, fostering unity, creativity, and cultural pride among students and faculty, making it a truly memorable celebration.

 

 

Blood Donation Camp at DAV University
 
On November 19, 2024, DAV University, Jalandhar, organized a blood donation camp at its Health Centre under the theme "Think Health, Think Pharmacy." The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and encourage students, faculty, and staff to contribute to this life-saving cause. The camp was organized in collaboration with the university’s pharmacy department and local health authorities, ensuring smooth operations and safety measures. 12 participants, including students from the pharmacy department, faculty, and staff, enthusiastically took part, demonstrating a strong commitment to community service and healthcare awareness. The event successfully reinforced the critical role of blood donation in saving lives, highlighting the pharmacy
department’s active involvement in promoting health and well-being.
