She earned her bachelor and master degrees in Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar with gold medals and received national scholarship. She qualified CSIR UGC-NET and GATE in Chemical Sciences.  She did her Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. N.C. Kothiyal from NIT, Jalandhar and Prof. A.K. Nema from IIT, Delhi. She has worked as Research Assistant for two sponsored projects at IIT, Delhi. She has co-authored number of research papers in international journals and published book chapters in books published by international publishers. She has been presenting her research work in number of international & national conferences as invited speaker.  She has got teaching experience of more than seventeen years (HMV Jalandhar; DAVIET Jalandhar and currently at DAV University Jalandhar).  Her research interests include Analytical Chemistry, Natural Polymers chemistry, Biopolymers, Hydrogels and Nanotechnology. Currently, she is guiding three Ph.D. students and has guided more than twenty students for M.Sc. projects.
