Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Department Highlights
  • Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, DAV University strictly follows the curriculum as recommended by Fifth Dean’s Committee of ICAR and updates it regularly to keep pace with changes in education system at national and international level.
  • Practical Crop Production (PCP) is an integral part of course curriculum for B. Sc. (Hons) Agriculture where land is provided to the students in groups and they have to cultivate it by themselves. The students not only learn to grow different crops but also learn the risks associated with crop production.
  • Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWE) during final year of B. Sc. Agri. degree create awareness among students about the real farm situation and problems associated with farming community. Major components are industrial attachment, field visits and village attachment. In industrial attachment students get attached to any agro based industry to know the work culture of the industry and gain work experience over there. The students are attached to the village where they work under the guidance of the farmers in village attachment component. Field visits are organized to different KVKs, research centers/institutes, progressive farms to get exposure to new technologies/machineries/ protocol/varieties developed by SAUs/ICAR institutes.
  • Every year many of our students crack entrance exams of reputed SAUs like PAU, Ludhiana, UHF Nauni, SKAUST, Jammu, Bihar Agriculture University and CSK HPKV, Palampur for pursuing their Masters’ degree. Many students have been enrolled in foreign universities for higher studies.
  • UG and PG students got placed with various govt. organizations like State Agriculture Dept., Banks, State warehouse Cooperation as Agricultural Development Officers, Agriculture Field Officers, Assistant General Managers and also in private organizations as Marketing and Sales officers, Deputy Manager, Cluster Officer etc..
