Webinar On “Role Of E-Learning In Implementation Of Nep 2020”

Visit Report on Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) Chandigarh
Students of Electrical Engineering visited Punjab Energy Development Agency(PEDA), Chandigarh. The students were given awareness about the initiatives being done by PEDA such as Promotion and Development of Small/Micro Hydel projects on canal falls, Biomass/Agro residue based power projects, Co-generation power project in Sugar Mills and Paper industry, Solar Photovoltaic and Solar thermal power projects, Waste to Energy projects, Solar Photovoltaic based technologies, Biomass based gasifiers, Solar thermal systems, Implementation of Energy Conservation Act, Biogas development programme through setting up large size Institutional/Night Soil based biogas plants and Family Size biogas plants, Energy conservation, Solar Passive Architecture, Creating Awareness & Publicity in masses to adopt Non-conventional Energy Sources and Energy Saving / Conservation. Students also visited the product display gallery in the premises also the PEDA building is being rated with 5 Star rating in Energy consumption by Bureau of Energy Efficiency(BEE).

Visit Report on Semi-Conductor Complex Limited(SCL), Mohali
Students of Electrical Engineering visited Semi-Conductor Complex Limited(SCL), Mohali. The students given awareness about CMOS & MEMS manufacturing process and utilities 66KV sub-station. SCL has an 8" wafer fab line qualified to the JEDEC-JP001A standard with a 180 nm CMOS technology node. SCL also has a 6" fab line for MEMS development and is expanding it to include a compound semiconductor fabrication facility. Process capability at SCL enables a 1.8V, 1.8/3.3V, or 1.8V/5V power-supply solution with 4-6 Al-metal layers and analog modules. The VLSI design domain in SCL spreads over analog, digital, mixed-signal, memory, RF-CMOS, and optoelectronic in the form of silicon-proven and space-qualified ASICS, ASSPs, SoCs, SCL excels in developing ceramic packages and meets the demanding test requirements at the wafer and package level, along with test plan development for high-pin-count integrated circuits, RF, and MEMS devices. At SCL, quality and reliability assurance adhere to global performance specifications such as MIL-PRF-38535, JEDEC-JP001A, and MIL-STD-883. SCL possesses capabilities in power, water, and air management, bulk, and specialty gas distribution systems. The quality parameters of Ultra Pure Water (UPW) and bulk gases produced at SCL are at par with international standards. SCL brings decades of experience to provide customers with unparalleled microelectronics solutions in India. SCL is also engaged in the fabrication of Hi-Rel boards, Radio systems, and the indigenization of electronic subsystems.

Visit Report on Uchi –Bassi Hydropower Station
Department of Mechanical Engineering alongwith Electrical Engineering organized one-day Industrial Visit at HYDROPOWER STATION UCHI –BASSI on 25th February, 2025 for second and third year students to impart practical knowledge in the subject of Fluid Machinery as well as to have on the site experience of witnessing a hydro Power Station. More than 40 students were accompanied by two faculty members Dr. Ashutosh Bhadoria and Er. Ved Raj Khullar. UCHI-BASSI Hydropower station is one of the main Hydro Electric Station of Mukerian Hydel Project which generate the 58.5 MW power. Students observed that the power house is vertical salient pole umbrella types, has three number of KAPLAN turbine rotating in clockwise direction with 166.7 rpm (rating of each units is 19.5 MW), turbine output is 27300 HP, 06 numbers of blades. Discharge and head required for the maximum power generation is 3701 cusecs and 22.5 meters respectively. Also students were given detailed information about the power project i.e. it comprises of 4 Power Houses. Power House No. 1 & 2 have 6 Nos (3 at each Power House) machines of 15 MW capacity each whereas Power House No.3 & 4 have 6 Nos. (3 at each Power House) machines of 19.5 MW capacity each. The total generating capacity is 207 MW of all the 12 Nos. Machines. The Mukerian Hydel Project generates electrical energy at 11 KV and after stepping up to 132 KV, the same is transmitted to Grid system at 132 KV. Power House No. I, is connected with Power House No.II and Power House No.II with PH No. III and PH No. III with PH-IV through 132 KV double circuit lines carried on towers. There are four 132 KV circuit lines for evacuation of electric energy generated, two numbers at PH-II to Jalandhar (through 132 KV Bhogpur and 132 KV Tanda circuits) and other two at PH-IV through 132 KV Sri-Hargobindpur Circuit I&II. Students were also given exposure on operation of turbines and maintenance strategies to be followed.

Name of the Event: Electrical wiring
Date of the Event: 27th feb,2025
Electrical Engineering Department conducted workshop on electrical wiring on the account of celebration of National Science Day.
Students of various departments from DAV University Jalandhar participated in the electrical wiring workshop conducted in the Electrical Workshop situated in the basement of academic block -1 DAV University.
The students were given knowledge about the basic electrical switches. Sh. Rajinder Singh interacted with the students and gave the knowledge regarding earthing of the equipment’s. The workshop involved the hands-on practise of electrical wiring involving stair case problem. Students were made aware about electricity energy meters. The workshop was concluded successfully.
