Hostel Rules

Here is a set of rules for residents to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable without creating any problems for the authorities.

1.         No student will be allowed to join hostel without:

(a)         Fee Receipts (Both University & Hostel)

(b)         Hostel Accommodation cum Pledge Form

(c)         Medical Fitness Certificate

2.         Students are required to bring their own bed linen and door curtains, locks, buckets, mugs, dusters etc.

3.         Furniture will be issued to the resident students against their signatures and the student will be held responsible for any breakage of furniture issued to her.

4.         The resident scholars must not disfigure the walls, doors and furniture of their rooms by pasting posters, writing or engraving anything on them. Defaulters will be fined heavily.

5.         Hostel students are not allowed to use any personal electric appliances. In case of a defaulter, strict action will be taken and the appliance will be confiscated. They are also warned not to tamper with electrical fittings. The authorities will not be responsible for any mishap.

6.         Hostel students are not allowed to keep any personal vehicles.

7.         The authorities will be constrained to punish students for inappropriate behaviour / action which is detrimental to accepted social norms.

8.         Possession and consumption of any kind of intoxicants/drugs will result in immediate expulsion from hostel.

9.         Resident scholars are advised not to keep any obscene material with them.

10.      The hostel officials reserve the right to conduct ‘surprise checks’.

11.      The university does not take responsibility of valuables especially mobile phones, jewellery  and cash of resident students. They are therefore advised not to bring such valuables with them and cash should be deposited in the State Bank of India extension counter on the premises.

12.      Students are not allowed to stay in the hostel during autumn break, winter break or summer vacations. However, in case of an emergency / project work, arrangements can be made for their stay only after getting special permission from the authorities concerned.

13.      All the students will report daily for Roll-Call in their respective hostels at 6.30 pm in winter (November to February) and 7.00 pm in summer.

14.      Parents of the defaulter students can be called by the hostel authorities any time so that they are advised to take the report of their wards from the hostel wardens from time to time.

15.      If, at any time, it is found that the information given to hostel authorities by the parents or the students is wrong, strict action will be taken immediately by the authorities.

16.      Students who fail to clear the eligibility criteria regarding aggregate marks in all the subjects in the house examinations and attendance will have to forfeit their hostel seat.

17.      Parents should regularly check the attendance, house test results and record of outings of their wards and sign the reports.

18.      Married girls are not allowed to stay in the hostel. In case a student gets married during the session, she will have to vacate the hostel.

19.      Resident students are not allowed to take part in any kind of protest or strike.

20.      Students are expected to maintain a decent dress code in the hostel and university premises.

21.      Habitual defiance of the hostel rules will render a resident student liable to disciplinary action, a special fine and even expulsion from the university.

22.      No resident can pass on the key of her room to another resident or an outsider. It will be viewed as a serious offence.

23.      In case a resident absents herself from classes in the university for seven days continuously without prior permission from authorities, she will be asked to vacate the hostel. If a resident student’s name is struck off the university rolls for any reason, she will have to vacate the hostel seat.

24.      Hostel rooms and premises must be kept neat and tidy.  

25.      Ragging is strictly prohibited as per the hon’ble Supreme Court orders. Defaulters will face punitive action.

26.      Action will be taken against the erring students who pass undesirable remarks about fellow students, indulge in physical and mental torture and show disobedience and non-co-operative behavior.
