Ankush Minocha, the global campus marketing head at Wipro Technologies said that a command over modern technologies hold the key to employability and professional leadership. Minocha, who was interacting with students at DAV University, Jalandhar said that a balance between work and leisure leads to success in a stressful professional environment. The programme was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of the University.
Minocha said that persistence, innovation and diversification were important components of sustainability. Quoting an example, he said Wipro started as a vegetable product company and took a quantum leap into IT business. “Wipro was established in 1945 as Western India Vegetable Products Limited in Amalner, Maharashtra and the company ventured into the fledgling IT industry in 1981,” he said.
Calling upon B Tech graduates to work hard and think differently, he said that smart devices were already leading the charge in the current ever-changing business climate. Fresh graduates took charge at Wipro to develop Smart Necklace capable of sensing parameters related to human heart. Wipro has created a health necklace for patients who are under step-down treatment after surgery. The monitoring system uses sophisticated algorithms to alert doctors when required and the patient can be called in immediately for treatment. Patients no longer need to stay in the hospital with doctors now equipped to remotely monitor the vital body parameters. The data is continuous, allowing doctors to arrive at better decisions than they could before. “If those graduates could design such a device, why can’t you,” he said.
Before the interactive session, the Wipro global marketing head was received on the campus by Prof (Dr) A K Paul, Vice Chancellor, DAV University. Dr Paul said that students had learnt a lot through interaction with Mr Minocha. The Training and Placement Officer of the University, Mr Abhinav Tiwari was also present on the occasion.
