Vijeyta, Gurpreet, Gazal & Ramandeep win titles at DAV University

Vijeyta and Gurpreet Singh were declared Miss and Mister Fresher Undergraduate while Gazal and Ramandeep Singh were crowned Miss and Mister Fresher Postgraduate respectively at Aagman – a cultural event organized on September 28 night by the students of DAV University to celebrate the beginning of first academic session. The students and guests witnessed the talent of the first batch of students at the University.

The chief guest of the function Mr A K Sharma, district and session judge while Rashmi Ghai, secretary, Arya Samaj Temple at Model Town was the guest of honour. The chief guest Mr Sharma, who addressed the audience, said that the students of DAV University were talented and he was delighted to watch their energy channelized in a positive direction. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr R K Kohli said that the University was committed to nurture the talent of the students. "We are committed to ensure their overall development," he said.

The programme started with the invocation of the Godess Saraswati and culminated with the pounding rhythm of dhol in the Bhagra performance by Shubham Bahri, Parminder Singh, Taresh Sharma, Navneet Singh, Arshpreet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Rajkamal.

The fusion of five songs in a Punjabi group dance choreographed by Anchal Suri, along with Kamaljot Singh, was well received by the audience. The scintillating performance by Anchal – who made a guest entry merely for about a minute in the item – earned a lot of applaud. The participants in the item included Kamaljot Singh, Priyanka Rikhy, Vishali, Raman, Pankaj, Mehtaab, Vishal, Raunak, Ritesh, Shyamli and Avneet Kaur.

Giddha performed by Mandeep Kaur, Anjali Passi, Anshu Joshi, Priyanka Sharma, Renuka Gujjral, Amandeep Kaur, Kulbir Kaur, Sanjeet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Amritpal Kaur, Rajvir Kaur, Kawalpreet Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur.

Aksheen, Alish Abrol, Atul Sharma, Bhavna Saini, Charandeep Singh, Dharminder Singh, Gurbinder Kaur, Gurpreet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Lakhanpal Singh, Navjot Singh, Nikita, Nishant, Sakshi Sharma, Supreet and Vijeyta participated in modeling performed by Undergraduate students of the University. Ajay Kumar, Amit Sondhi, Arjun Mahap, Gazal, Komika, Lovepreet, Mehak Jain, Nikarika, Pallavi, Ramandeep Singh, Ritesh Bhardwaj and Shivam Kansal took part in the modeling performed by Postgraduate.

A song Teri Diwani sung by Yajit Puri earned him thunderous applause while the guest of honour Rashmi Ghai also entertained the students by singing Tappe in her melodious voice.

Navita, Shagun, Rashmi, Sakshi, Vishal Dutta, Bharat Keshav, Raghav Bhargav, Shwet Sunny, Peeyush, Sanil Bhandari, Vandit Bhandari, Jatin Sharma, Ritesh Bharadwaj, Kanwar, Atul, Pankaj Sareen and Shubham Gulati presented Catalyst and Dancing Divas – two western dance performances.
Skits presented by Shivam, Mintu, Paras, Piyush, Saakshi, Chetna, Harsarabpreet, Harsimran Singh, Gursharanjit Singh, Kalpana, Ashu, Konika, Sahil, Mridul, Abhishek, Kanvarpal, Vandit, Pallavi and Saakshi were also among the main attractions of the function. Dhwani Gupta. Kritika, Richa and Shelza compered the programme.
