“UDAAN: A Career Guidance Talk” Highlights Emerging Opportunities in Agri-Sector

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with the DAVU Institution Innovation Cell, DAV University, Jalandhar organized an expert Lecture on ‘Udaan: A Career Guidance Talk’ by Mr. Sourabh V. Pandey (Founder ISAB, Greater Noida) on 29 April 2026. The guest speaker was introduced by the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. K. S. Thind, which was followed by an engaging and enthusiastic address by the guest speaker. During his address, Mr. Pandey highlighted the rapid growth of agricultural and allied sectors and the career opportunities therein for Agriculture Graduates. He emphasized the rising importance of the food processing industry, which is expected to attract $33 billion in investments by 2030, with a significant share in employment and value addition. The sector already accounts for a notable share in India’s food market and continues to expand through mega food parks and policy support. The speaker elaborated on diverse career opportunities available to agriculture graduates, including roles in agribusiness firms, NBFCs, NGOs, warehousing, retail, crop insurance, rural BPOs, and international trade. He stressed the growing demand for skilled professionals in agribusiness management, pointing out that while nearly 3 lakh agriculture graduates pass out annually, with only about 5,000 in quality agribusiness management programs, leading to a widening demand-supply gap of trained professionals. At last, Mr. Pandey motivated the students to explore emerging avenues in agri-business and develop industry-relevant skills for better career prospects. The session was concluded with an online quiz, in which five top rankers were awarded with prizes and certificates. The event was concluded by the vote of thanks, extended by Dr. Rahul Kumar expressing his gratitude to the guest speaker and to all the participants and staff members who helped in making this even successful.
