Two days faculty orientation programme organized at DAV University

The Faculty Orientation Programme commenced with a structured schedule aimed at familiarizing faculty members with the institution’s research vision, decision-making processes, and ethical standards.

The program started with the traditional DAV Gaan, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting. Dr. R.K. Mahajan, the Vice Chancellor, addressed the new faculty members and emphasized the institution’s commitment to research excellence. He discussed the strategic role of faculty in advancing the institution’s research profile and outlined the expectations regarding research output and collaboration. Registrar, Dr. Sushma Arya delivered a concise address, focusing on institutional policies, administrative procedures, and the roles faculty members play in maintaining academic integrity and supporting institutional goals. Dr. K.N. Kaul presented a session on research ethics and integrity. Dean Academics, Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta’s session focused on decision-making in academia. He provided insights into the critical role of faculty in departmental and institutional decision-making processes, addressing how to handle challenges. Mr. Arvind Mahindru led an interactive session on building trust and credibility as a faculty member. The day concluded with a Q&A session, during which faculty members had the opportunity to clarify doubts, ask questions related to the day’s presentations, and discuss key takeaways.

The second day of the orientation focused on strategic departmental planning, the institutional code of conduct, and familiarizing faculty members with the campus. Ms. Sangeeta Monga delivered a comprehensive lecture on strategic planning for academic departments. She outlined how faculty members can contribute to the development of departmental goals, resource allocation, and long-term planning to enhance academic output.

Dr. Rekha Gaba introduced the institutional code of conduct, explaining its significance for both faculty and students. A campus tour was arranged to familiarize the new faculty with the university’s infrastructure, key facilities, research centers, and student services. The program concluded with closing remarks from the organizers. Faculty members were invited to provide feedback on the orientation program, sharing their experiences and suggestions for future improvements.

The Faculty Orientation Programme-2018 successfully achieved its goals of introducing faculty members to the institution’s research vision, ethical standards, and administrative procedures.
