Jalandhar, March 23
Ten students from institutes in Jalandhar and Ludhiana have been shortlisted to represent their vision of a developed India at the state-level Viksit Bharat competition. The selection took place during the District Youth Parliament 2025, hosted by DAV University under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The initiative aims to involve young voices in shaping India’s future by 2047.

The shortlisted students are Sakshi Sharma (Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar), Sukhdev Chhabra (DAVIET), Apurva (Lyallpur Khalsa College), Riya (Saint Soldier Law College, Jalandhar), Dilpreet Kaur (APJ Institute of Management Engineering Technical Campus), Divishi Verma (DAV College Jalandhar), Pratham Bhanot (PCTE Ludhiana), Ruby (CT College of Education Jalandhar), Tushar Chadha (DAV College Jalandhar), and Jatin Sethi (SCD Govt College, Ludhiana). They emerged from a pool of 100 participants who presented their ideas at the district event after submitting preliminary video entries.

The two-day programme evaluated participants on content relevance, clarity, structure, language, and fluency. Judges included Dr Satpal Singh (NSS PO, Lyallpur Khalsa College), Dr Sharad Manocha (Professor of English, DAV College, Jalandhar), Dr B P S Bedi (Professor of English, DAV University), Dr K N Kaul (Dean Sciences, DAV University), and Dr Mukta Soni (Professor of Political Science, DAV College, Dasuya).

Winners will speak at Legislative Assemblies and Parliament, with prizes awarded by the Government of India. Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Manoj Kumar emphasized the event’s focus on an inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable India. Registrar Prof (Dr) S K Arora highlighted its role as a platform for young leaders to contribute ideas. NSS Coordinator Dr Samriti Khosla noted that the event fostered leadership and intellectual growth through debate and policy discussions.
