Sixth Foundation Day celebrated at DAV University

DAV University, Jalandhar celebrated its sixth foundation day. A Havan Yagya was performed to commemorate the celebration. Mr. Tankeshawar Kumar, Vice Chancellor Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar and Mr. Virender Kumar Alankar, Chairperson, Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, Chandigarh were the chief guests on this occasion.

Speaking to the students, Mr. Virender Kumar Alankar said they should follow Vedas as they teach the way of life. He said, “The Vedas guide us that real education is not only earning degrees from universities but it is more about developing human as a human.”

Mr. Tankeshwar said, “We have rich educational tradition but we have not been able to continue the legacy. We need to inculcate Vedas and modern education simultaneously among the students. Modern education should be flexible and innovative.”

Prof. Rakesh Kumar Mahajan, Vice Chancellor DAV University welcomed the guests. Prof. Mahajan briefed students about the progress of the University during the last academic session. He said that the University was performing well in terms of academics, research and placements. Scholars and faculties from different departments had earned projects and scholarships from research agencies including DST and CSIR.

Dr. Sushma Arya, Registrar, DAV University apprised students and guests of the tradition of performing yajna. “The University performs yagya with a motive to bring students closer to their old traditional and cultural values.”

Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Dean Student welfare thanked all the present guests and students. Mr. Nakul Kundra hosted the event. On this occasion, Dr. Deshbandhu Gupta, Dean Academics, Dr. Yashbeer Singh and Dr. K. N. Kaul were also present.
