Seminar on “Drug Abuse: Its Causes and Prevention” at DAV University, Jalandhar

A seminar on Drug Abuse: It's Cause and Treatment was organized by the Department of Psychology at DAV University. Speakers in it inspired the students to stay away from any kind of addiction. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Rakesh Mahajan, Vice Chancellor of the University, by felicitating the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gurmeet Singh with a bouquet. Gurmeet Singh said that he is committed to protect the youth of the district from the rising evil of drug addiction.

The state's Chief Minister has pledged to free Punjab and its youth from drugs to secure a prosperous future. Many raids are organised day in and day out to curb the suppliers at different areas.Under the same campaign, educational institutions are being given a message to save the youth from intoxication by keeping a strict eye on its sources and supply. Along with those who have become addicted, efforts are being made to connect them with the mainstream of the society. V.C., Dr. Mahajan appreciated the speakers who shared personal experiences of addiction to make the students aware of the adverse consequences of intoxication. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Head of Department, was grateful to the Chief Speakers, saying that students have learnt a lot and that they will hopefully stay away from this social evil. It is our belief, Registrar Dr. Sushma Arya said, that many programs are being organized frequently to teach the students human values and ethics to prevail and sustain in a progressive society. Therefore, the responsibility of the students is to imbibe good qualities and to put all their energy on building their future. Dean of Academics, Deshbandhu Gupta, offered his warm gratitude to all for making the program successful.
