Punjab’s Young Talent Shines on National Stage, DAV University’s Oorvi Rathour Wins Youth Climate Leader Award
Jalandhar: Punjab’s young talent continues to make a mark on the national stage, bringing
immense pride to the state and its institutions. Oorvi Rathour, a student of DAV University
Jalandhar has won the prestigious Youth Climate Leader Award at the Model COP-31
Simulation held at IIT Roorkee. Her achievement highlights the growing participation,
leadership and environmental consciousness of Punjab’s youth at national platforms.
The national-level simulation was organised by Students for Development (SFD), India, at
the IIT Roorkee. Designed on the functioning and proceedings of the international
Conference of the Parties (COP), the simulation brought together more than 80 young
participants from different parts of the country. Participants were assigned the responsibility
of representing various countries, with Oorvi Rathour representing India. A total of nine
participants from Punjab represented the state at the national platform.
During the simulation, young delegates engaged in extensive discussions on critical global
concerns, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, water conservation and
environmental protection, with a focus on facts, data, policy perspectives, innovative ideas
and practical solutions. Representing India, Oorvi Rathour impressed the jury with her strong
subject knowledge, confidence, leadership abilities and solution-oriented approach,
effectively presenting India’s perspective and contributing meaningful solutions to pressing
climate challenges, which earned her the prestigious Youth Climate Leader Award. Her
performance reflected the growing potential of young people to contribute meaningfully to
global discussions on climate action and sustainable development.
