Jalandhar, September 5
A living legend and globally acclaimed marathoner Fauja Singh called upon students to take on challenges in life and follow a strict discipline to succeed. He said running and other activities give purpose and a sense of peace. The 113-year-old celebrity runner was the chief guest at DAV University Community Run organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

Fauja Singh who distributed prizes to the winners of the community run said that students should not stress and stay happy. “You never hear of anyone dying of happiness," he said.
The run was flagged off by Dr. Yeshbeer Singh, Deputy Director, Sports. About 200 students participated in the event from various departments of the university and nearby villages. The distance for men and women was 12 km and 05 km respectively.

Results: Girls: First 10 runners (chronologically): Rajju Kumari, Ram Kumari, Kajal Kumari, Blissneet Kaur, Tanya Saini, Khushboo, Sneha, Khushboo, Sapna, and Kanika.
Youth from a nearby village Raipur Rasulpur also participated in the event. The top ten winners are Vijay, Roshan, Lovepreet Sondhi, Aditya, Randeep, Rajneesh, Inderjit, Rohit Kumar, Dhiraj and Sukhbir.
