Industry Associations Meet DAV University MBA Students

The Business Development Centre under the Consultancy Cell of DAV University organized interaction of the business management students from the CBME Department with the representatives of two industry associations viz. Sports Goods Foundation of India (SGFI) and Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC).

The Executive Director of Sports Goods Foundation of India (SGFI) Dr. Ravi Purewal shared that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of the Indian Sports Goods Industry was started in 1999 by volunteer members from Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (SGMEA) to identify and rehabilitate child labor in the sports industry. He shared the growth story of the sports goods industry in India and also highlighted the contribution of SGFI in the fields of education, health, social security, micro-insurance and women empowerment for the workers in the sports goods industry.

Mr. Anurag Singh, Assistant Manager from FMC shared that Foundation for MSME Clusters specializes in promotion of MSMEs through conceptualization and implementation of initiatives for MSME sector across various thematic areas of specialization that include productivity & competitiveness, energy efficiency, business responsibility, policy & research, common infrastructure development, training & capacity building, marketing and innovation. Established in June 2005, FMC has experience working directly and indirectly with over 100,000 MSMEs in around 200 clusters in over 15 countries across the globe.

The guests interacted with the MBA students to understand their skills and capabilities in the domains of strategy and digital marketing to involve the students in live projects for the members of their associations.

Dr. Sandeep Vij, Associate Professor and Head of the Consultancy Cell informed the industry association representatives that Business Development Centre has been set up at DAV University to provide business development services to the industry. The highly competent and research-oriented faculty members from DAV University along with the students trained in industry-relevant skills will provide support to the industry, especially MSMEs. Dr. Vij proposed to write case studies on the experiences of the firms belonging to these associations. Dr. Girish Taneja, Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce and Business Management thanked the guests for sparing time for interaction with the students. The students presented mementos to Dr. Ravi Purewal and Mr. Anurag Singh as a token of gratitude.
