All India Inter-University Taekwondo (Men’s) Championship 2025–26 concludes at DAV University, Jalandhar

207 Teams from Across India Showcase Strength, Skill, and Sporting Spirit

Jalandhar, March 2026: DAV University, Jalandhar, marked the successful conclusion of the All India Inter-University Taekwondo (Men’s) Championship 2025–26, held from March 16-20, 2026, with a grand valedictory ceremony celebrating days of intense competition, sportsmanship, and national unity. The championship witnessed an overwhelming participation of 207 teams from universities across the country, reflecting the growing prominence of sports in higher education and the rising competitive spirit among youth.

The grand valedictory ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. MF Farooqui, IPS, ADGP, whose presence added prestige and inspiration to the occasion. The championship featured intense competitions across multiple categories, including -54 kg, -58 kg, –63 kg, –74 kg, –80 kg, and –87 kg weight divisions, along with Individual Poomsae and Team Poomsae events, providing a comprehensive platform for athletes to showcase both combat skills and technical excellence. The event served as a vibrant platform for showcasing athletic excellence, discipline, and resilience, with participants demonstrating exceptional skill and determination throughout the championship.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other distinguished dignitaries. He highlighted the resounding success of the championship and congratulated the participants for their commendable performances. He stated, “The successful organization of this championship reflects DAV University’s strong commitment to promoting sports culture and holistic development. Events like these not only promote physical fitness but also instil values of discipline, perseverance, and national integration among students.”

The Chief Guest, Mr M F Farooqui, IPS, ADGP, lauded the efforts of the university and the participants, stating that this championship stands as a powerful testament to the strength, dedication, and discipline of India’s youth. The level of competition witnessed here is truly inspiring. Platforms like these not only nurture sporting excellence but also shape individuals into responsible, confident, and resilient citizens. He commended DAV University for creating such impactful opportunities that not only build champions in sports but also leaders for the future.

Registrar Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora appreciated the seamless organization of the championship and emphasized the importance of such events in strengthening inter-university collaboration. He remarked, “The level of competition witnessed during the championship was remarkable. Such platforms provide students with opportunities to excel, gain exposure, and build confidence at a national level.”

The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Yasbeer Singh, Director of Sports Director Sports, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, university authorities, participating teams, officials, and volunteers for their invaluable contributions in making the championship a grand success.

The winners of the championship were felicitated during the ceremony, acknowledging their outstanding performances and dedication. Adding to the pride of the host institution, DAV University’s Sushant Singh bagged the 1st medal in the Individual Poomsae category.

Further enhancing the university’s achievement, DAV University secured the position of First Runner-Up in the Team Trophy Poomsae category. The event culminated on a high note with MDU Rohtak lifting the Team’s Trophy Poomsae and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar lifting Team Trophy Kyorugi of the All India Inter-University Taekwondo (Men’s) Championship 2025–26, marking a proud and memorable finale to a truly electrifying sporting spectacle.
