Mr. Sarbjit Singh, Ph D student, Department of Physics at DAV University, Jalandhar has successfully defended his PhD dissertation on March 31.
Dr. Keshav Walia, Coordinator, Department of Physics welcomed the research advisory committee and other members of the jury for conducting the PhD viva-voce. Mr. Sarbjit Singh had carried out research under the supervision of Dr Gurmeet Singh Lotey in the area of treatment of cancer using an advanced and upcoming technique called ‘Hyperthermia’. He had synthesized biocompatible nanoparticles of ferrites materials.
These nanoparticles are injected into the human body and by applying an external magnetic field these generate enough heat that kills the cancer cells. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice-Chancellor (Officiating) Dr. R.K. Seth, Dean Academics (Officiating), Dr. Kailash Nath Kaul, Registrar (Officiating) congratulated Mr. Sarbjit Singh for his achievement.
