Faculty members provided with essential knowledge through orientation programme

Two days Faculty Orientation Programme was conducted, providing new and existing faculty members with crucial insights into administrative procedures, academic planning, and professional conduct. The programme aimed to enhance the faculty’s understanding of institutional policies and educational strategies, ensuring a smooth integration into the academic environment.

The orientation programme commenced with a traditional DAV Gaan. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice Chancellor, DAV University, Jalandhar delivered an inspiring inaugural address, outlining the vision and mission of the institution and emphasizing the role of faculty in achieving institutional goals. After that the worthy Registrar Prof. Dr. K.N. Kaul provided an overview of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to administrative matters and HR rules, essential for faculty to understand their roles and responsibilities. It was followed by Dr. Geetika Nagrath’s discussion on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) focusing on its scope and practical implementation. Dr. Sapna Sethi covered the strategies for effective academic course planning, emphasizing the importance of aligning course objectives with educational outcomes.

After lunch, Dean Academics and Controller of Examination, Dr. R. K. Seth explained the processes and criteria for course assessment and evaluation, highlighting best practices for maintaining academic standards. A short break for tea was provided, allowing participants to recharge and interact informally. The day ended with The DAVIS Team presentation on various technological and administrative tools available to faculty members, showcasing resources to aid in their academic and administrative tasks.

The second day of the programme started with Dr. Tejinder Kaur’s insights into conflict resolution strategies and maintaining professional etiquette, crucial for fostering a positive work environment. After this, Dr. Hans addressed the principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), focusing on aligning teaching methodologies with desired learning outcomes. Dr. Sandeep Singh explored ethical issues and considerations in a professional setting, stressing the importance of integrity and ethical behavior in academia.

The closing session of the Orientation Programme marked a fitting conclusion to the two-day event.

The Faculty Orientation Programme effectively equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills to thrive in their roles. The diverse range of topics addressed, from administrative procedures to ethical considerations, provided a comprehensive introduction to the expectations and resources available within the institution.
