Faculty of Agricultural Sciences organises awareness Campaign cum Rally on Balanced Use of Fertilizers

On 17 September 2026, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, DAV University, organised an awareness campaign cum rally on “Balanced Use of Fertilizers” at Sarmastpur village under the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) Programme.

The programme was led by Dr. Rashika Mahajan, Dr. Priti Singh and Dr. Jatinderpal Singh, with active participation from first- and fourth-year students of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme. The event was attended by Village Sarpanch Mr. Rajesh Ji and various farmers of the village. Faculty members and students sensitised farmers and school students about the importance of balanced fertilizer application and the harmful effects of both excessive and inadequate fertilizer use. They encouraged farmers to adopt soil and crop-specific fertilizer recommendations and sustainable nutrient-management practices.

Following the awareness session, students along with faculty members conducted a rally throughout the village, raising slogans such as “Na Kam Khaad Na Zyada Khaad, Phasal Ko Do Santulit Khaad”, “Sahi Poshan, Sahi Utpaadan”. Informative flyers and leaf folders were also distributed among villagers to promote awareness about soil health and the appropriate use of bio-fertilizers. The campaign provided students with valuable practical exposure to farmer interaction, rural communication and extension education, while spreading the message of sustainable agriculture in the village.
