Visit of B Sc Agri students to Markfed Canneries, Adampur, on 15th April, 2026
On 15/04/206, the final year students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, Faculty of Agricultural
Sciences, participated in an educational exposure visit to Markfed Canneries located at
Adampur Road, near Lally Farms, Chuharwali village, Jalandhar, Punjab, to gain practical
knowledge of agro-processing and value addition under the supervision of Dr. Rashika
Mahajan and Dr. Priti Singh. The visit aimed to familiarize students with post-harvest
management and the role of processing in reducing losses and enhancing farmers’ income.
During the visit, students observed various stages of fruit and vegetable processing, including
sorting, grading, washing, peeling, pulping, canning, and preservation. They were introduced
to modern machinery, quality control measures, hygiene standards, and packaging techniques
followed in the industry.
Students also interacted with technical experts, who explained processing protocols, product
diversification, storage methods, and marketing strategies. The visit provided valuable
exposure to agribusiness operations and highlighted employment and entrepreneurship
opportunities in the food processing sector. Overall, it was an enriching experience that
strengthened their practical understanding of agricultural extension and value addition.
