Noted writer and media expert Dr K K Rattu has joined DAV University, Jalandhar as Director Media and Professor, Journalism and Mass Communication at DAV University. Dr Rattu, a D Litt from IOC, Netherlands and former Indian Broadcasting Service (IBS) officer has started work to establish state-of-the-art audio visual studios and infrastructure for teaching journalism. The Department will offer UG and PG degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication along with short-term courses in anchoring, photography, videography, radio production and film-making.

 

Dr Rattu, who has 65 multi-lingual books on various subjects to his credit also holds a diploma in Strategic Management of Television from country’s premier FTII, Pune. Many of his books have won national awards.

 

A recipient of the prestigious Bhartendu Harish Chandra Award, conferred by Ministry of I&B, Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Award by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India and Sahitya Shiromani Award by Government of Punjab, Dr Rattu is also regular columnist for leading Newspapers, Magazines and Journals. He has produced and directed several documentaries of national acclaim on various subjects for various national channels.

 

He has also been a member of Syllabus and Curriculum Development Committee of Central Universities of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Manipur.

 

“I am determined to set up one of the best media departments in north India. DAV University has been providing cutting edge knowledge to its students. Apart from regular faculty members, the University would also invite prominent media experts to interact with and guide the students," Dr Rattu said.
