Noted academician Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj has taken over as the Registrar of DAV University Jalandhar. Dr Rekha has held several major administrative positions including Assistant Regional Director, DAV Public Schools, Punjab Zone and Principal, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya (HMV), Jalandhar before joining the University.
Ph.D in English Literature from Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr Rekha has about 40 years’ experience in academics including including 16 years as Principal.
During her tenure as Principal, National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC) had granted A Grade to Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya with 3.83 CGPA (highest in India). The college was also recognized as the College of Excellence by the UGC, Role Model by NAAC Peer Team and Star College by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
She was also a Nominated Member of District Legal Services, Government of Punjab for three consecutive terms at Khanna.
Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj has taken over from Dr K N Kaul who had been officiating as the Registrar of the University. Dr Kaul would now serve as Professor at the Department of Chemistry.
Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj assumed the responsibility of the chair following Vedic tradition and participated in Yajna – a monthly feature at the University. Later, Dr A K Paul, Vice Chancellor of the University and other senior functionaries of the University formally escorted her to the Chair as she took over the charge of the office.
Dr A K Paul welcomed her on behalf of Mr Punam Suri, Chancellor of the University and conveyed best wishes of the Chancellor to her.
Giving details of his priorities after joining, Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj said that she aimed at enhancing quality of education and promoting holistic development of the students and staff at DAV University.
