Dr. Rahul Kumar and Dr. Ashutosh Sharma get a major research project form CSIR-HRDG, New Delhi to work on the salt stress genomics of legume crop horsegram
September 11, 2019

Dr. Rahul Kumar (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Ashutosh Sharma (Co- PI), Assistant Professors in Department of Agricultural sciences have been granted a research project entitiled “Insight into salt stress tolerance mechanism of poor man’s pulse horsegram [Macrotyloma uniflorum (Lam.) Verdc.] using biochemical and molecular approaches” funded by CSIR-HRDG, New Delhi. The project grant is more than Rs. 3100000/-. Dr. Rahul Kumar and Dr. Ashutosh Sharma will be working on the genomics of salinity stress in horsegram. Horesgarm is known to have a repository of drought and salinity stress tolerant genes. The findings of this research work will help deciphering the gene network involved in salinity stress tolerance. The future applications of the work will help to create salinity stress tolerant transgenic legumes and other crops.
