A Faculty Development Programme on ‘Modern Methodologies for Teaching and Research’ commenced at DAV University on Thursday. The chief guest Prof R K Sinha, Director, CSIR-CSIO inaugurated the Programme. Prof Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET was also present as the guest-of-honour.
Congratulating participants on participating in the Programme, Prof Sinha said the Programme is an important component of teaching which requires lifelong learning. Underlining the importance of adoption of new technology, he said that updating knowledge has always remained important but it has become all the more important with fast changing technology.
Appreciating the organisers of the Programme, Vice Chancellor Prof A K Paul said that the topic chosen for the Programme is very relevant in the present times. He also said that interaction of faculty members with the resource persons during the Programme would give birth to new initiatives.
Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj, Registrar, saidthat inquisitiveness is the basis of research and coming out of daily routine and participating in the Programme reflects this attitude of participants.

Nearly 60 faculty members from various Universities of North India are participating in the Programme.
The speakers who would be delivering lectures in the weeklong Programme include Dr Navdeep Singh Tung, Professor GNDU, Amritsar, Dr H K Sardana, Chief Scientist, CSIO, Peeyush Jain, CDAC, Mohali, Dr Ajay K Sharma, Director, NIT, Delhi and Prof Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET
Mr Arvind Mahindru, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications and Mr Vipan Bansal, Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering are the coordinators of the Programme.
The purpose of FDP is to inculcate confidence in the usage of statistics and interpretation of research data and also to educateparticipants about the latest techniques and methods for effective analysis of research data.
