DAV University’s Zoology Department wins Diwali Mela competition

The Department of Zoology bagged the first position, Biotechnology got the second while the Department of Legal Studies stood third in an inter-departmental competition at Diwali Mela organized by DAV University. The consolation prizes went to the Department of Agriculture and Computer Science and Engineering. It was the fourth consecutive time that the students of Zoology got this position at the fest.

The competition inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr Manoj Kumar aimed at inculcating entrepreneurial skills. The students were also expected to showcase such business plans which exhibited awareness toward the environment.

Organised under the aegis of the Department of Students’ Welfare, the event required conformity with the fervour of festivity.

Highlighting the details of the competition, Dr Manoj said that the students were expected to think critically, imbibe the concept of Make in India while conceiving the business model and narrate the story behind the selection of their business model.

The stalls were also adjudged for capital raising strategy, product selling and profit making. Teamwork and eco-friendliness of the products sold by the teams were given a special emphasis.

The students also had a gala time dancing on DJ. One of the major highlights of the event was the solo dance of a six-year-old Vamika on the surmedani.
