DAV University organized North Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (M) Championship. Event ran for three days in which 27 teams participated. In the closing ceremony Arjuna Awardee Prof. (Dr.) Dalel Singh Chauhan was invited as the Chief Guest who was welcomed by Vice Chancellor Dr. Jasbir Rishi.
After giving winning trophies to the teams, Dr. Rishi addressed to the sportspersons. She shared that People who love sports are more regular and disciplined. If students learn the importance and benefits of sports they are more into fitness, attractive and good health. Sports bring feeling of cooperation and integrity which is the most required virtue of modern world.
Dr. Rishi talked about opportunities of sports also. She said that Sports can be very beneficial in our life as it benefits our career building. The scope of this field has become very wide as after opting practically a game one can represent its country in games. There are quotas in getting jobs in different departments also.
Registrar Dr. K.N. Kaul and Dean Academics. Dr. R.K. Seth too shared their views. They said, People know that sports have better career, name, fame and money than any other field. Sports is a way to achieve great achievements. It is more dependent on their mobility and experience than they already have.
An interest in any sport can provide worldwide recognition. Facing the challenges of sports teaches us to survive in this competitive world along with dealing with other challenges of life. After this, Organizing Secretary & Deputy Director Sports, Dr. Yashbeer Singh also shared his experiences about event. Results were like Champions trophy was bagged by DAV University, Jalandhar, First runner was Panjab University, Chandigarh, Second runner trophy won by Punjabi University, Patiala. Fourth Place was bagged by MDU, Rohtak.
Apart from these, two special trophies were given, one to the Best Runner Trophy was awarded to Sham Kumar from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Best Chaser trophy was awarded to Mr. Naveen Kumar from DAV University, Jalandhar. All Technical officials were honored by a token of love and a certificate of officiating. The four Pool qualifier team coaches were also given special honor and a bouquet.
Valedictory ceremony closed with the lowering of University Flag, which was handed over to Deputy Director Sports. Cultural event (Bhangra) was the main attraction followed by Vote of Thanks by Dr. R.K. Seth Dean Academics.
