The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a visit for its students to All India Radio, Jalandhar. Faculty members Dr. Vijayta Taneja, Mr. Hari K Singh and Mr Raushan Yadav accompanied the students.
In a visit that lasted about 3 hrs, students were shown all major sections of the AIR station by duty officer Ms Pratishtha Jain. They were also given rare access to live studios and equipment present at the station. Console working was also exhibited, and everyone's doubts, technical or any other, were clarified.
Senior Announcer at AIR, Mr Raj Kumar Tuli interacted with the students and was especially enthusiastic to answer their questions. Mr. Tuli provided to the students a rare access to a live drama recording within one of the studios. The AIR official, Mr Sohan, also accompanied the students during the visit and explained to them the various software used in the computer systems within studios.
At last, the students visited the control room, following which Senior Director at AIR, Jalandhar, Ms. Santosh Rishi, addressed them. She gave special emphasis on how students should be working diligently on refining their voice, language and translation.
It was a fruitful visit for everyone in the Department.
