DAV University, Jalandhar organized a cleanliness drive under “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” at village Kishangarh on May 7th, 2016 under able guidance of Dr. A. K. Paul, the Vice Chancellor.
This initiative was taken with respect to Endeavour of Punjab government to initiate Rural Development Program. The event was meticulously planned by Dr. Naresh Sahajpal, Dean (Academics) in association with the selected committee members comprising of Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Sawhney (Chairman), Dr. Yeshbeer Singh (Director Sports), Dr. Ashutosh Sharma (Convener), Dr. Geetanjali Manchanda, Dr. Rahul Kumar and Mr. Ram Avtar.
The drive was successfully executed with the help of concerned panchayat and local Saint Baba Satnam Singh ji. The main objective of drive was to clean the dried canal located at Village Kishangarh in which heaps of solid waste and household waste had been dumped. The drive started at 09:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Around 150 students of the DAV University participated in this event along with the faculty members. After this event, the participating students were acquainted to the classical form of music by Saint Baba Satnam Singh ji. The efforts of the DAV University were recognized and appreciated by Sh. Paramjit Kumar, Sarpanch, village Kishangarh. This program will be further extended to the five villages selected under rural development programme as per guidelines of honorable chief minister of the Punjab.
