DAV University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali to promote research activities and technological innovation. Both the institutions would also collaborate on research projects and frame joint proposals for submission to the funding agencies. C-DAC is a premier R&D organization of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
This MoU will boost research in biomedical sciences, engineering, software technologies, multilingual and heritage computing, healthcare, electronics and cyber security at both institutions. The students of DAV University are also set to get an advantage of internships at C-DAC under the MoU.
The memorandum was signed by Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Paul, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University and Sh. D. K. Jain, Director, C-DAC. Dr. Balwinder Singh, Principal Engineer & Coordinator, Mr. Varun Chhabra, Project Engineer, C-DAC, Dr. Rakha Kalia Bhardwaj, Registrar and Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Dean (Academics) were also present at the occasion.
According to Dr. A. K. Paul, both the institutions would exchange research documents and findings on a case to case basis in addition to joint supervision of PhD scholars (in case of a Research Project) as per the University rules. The institutions would also organize joint conferences, workshops and seminars in addition to sharing laboratory library and such other resources to promote research without any financial burden on each other.
Sh. D. K. Jain, Director, C-DAC stated that the MoU would go a long way to promote academic and technological research. C-DAC and DAV University would make available research facilities to each other’s registered research scholars. “The research scholars would be considered at par with the research scholars of the other institution,” Dr Jain said.
“We look forward to ensuring that mutual projects are accomplished to a very high degree of quality, with the parsimony of time. The exchange of technical staff, research scholars, faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students will also be promoted,” stated Dr Paul and Dr Jain.
