DAV University secures first position in Luddi at State Youth Festival

DAV University secured the first position in Open Lok Nach – Luddi defeating the team of Chitkara University, Chandigarh at the Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival 2024. The students of DAV University proved their mettle in the test of knowledge about Punjab as they bagged the second position in Heritage Quiz. The event was organized by the Youth Affairs Welfare Department, Punjab from November 29 to December 2, 2024 at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Seventeen government and private universities from across the state participated in the events.

The winners of Luddi competition

Luddi is a traditional folk dance of Punjab performed in circles by both men and women while clicking their fingers and clapping hands, jumps and half-turns. It is performed on weddings and sports to celebrate victory.

In the quiz competition, ten teams faced written challenge and a questionnaire round. The team representing DAV University got the second position.

Congratulating the students, Dr Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor congratulated the students for their performance. He said that the university was committed to fostering cultural and academic excellence. Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Sidhu, Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr Ranjodh Singh, Mr Dildar Singh, Ms Sakshi and Jobanpreet Singh, coordinators, Reejh Club, Mr Taranjot Singh and Ms Nivedita, coordinators, Music Club also applauded the students.
