DAV College Jalalabad won overall trophy in music events at Utsav 2019 – an inter-college cultural competition organized by DAV University, Jalandhar. In other genres, GGDSD College, Chandigarh won overall trophy for dance events, HMV Jalandhar bagged overall trophy for drama, BBK DAV College, Amritsar picked up trophy for fine arts and DAV College, Abohar and GNDU, Amritsar grabbed overall trophy for media events.

Utsav was organised under the aegis of the Department of Student Welfare. Teams from about a dozen colleges and universities across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh participated in various cultural and academic events. The cultural and academic events were dedicated to fine arts, drama, music, dance and scientific thinking.

The function was inaugurated by the chief guest and noted Indian cricketer Dinesh Mongia while the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Rakesh Kumar Mahajan presided over the function. Various dignitaries of the University including OSD to DAV CMC Dr B C Josan, Registrar Dr Sushma Arya, Dean Academics Dr Desh Bandhu Gupta and Dean Students’ Welfare Dr Jasbir Rishi were present at the occasion.

Addressing students, VC Rakesh Mahajan said such events are important for the overall development of the students. These events boost the morale of the students and nurture their creative skills.
