Jalandhar, March 18
The Departments of Computer Science and Applications (CSA) and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at DAV University organized a 3-day webinar series on quantum and cyber security. The series aimed to educate students about quantum computing and its security aspects, as well as blockchain technologies and related threats and breaches.
The program featured experts from various universities and institutions who shared their insights on different topics. The series was inaugurated by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, DAV University.
Dr. Vimal Bhatia from IIT Ropar conducted the first session, discussing the basics of Quantum Communications & optical networks, and how a secured connection could be established. Dr. Deepak Singh Tomar from MNIIT, Bhopal explained Application Security Attacks and Mitigation Techniques, while Dr. Arvind Mahindru, Coordinator (CSA) highlighted applications of blockchain technology and Network Security. Dr. Rahul Hans (CSE) talked about attacks performed on different websites and ways to mitigate them.
Dr. Shubhayan Sarkar from Stefano Pironio, Belgium presented on the physics behind quantum non-locality and how its existence provides concrete proof that quantum theory is intrinsically different from classical theories. Dr. Manoj Kumar from University of Wollongong, UAE discussed the current threats in cyber security, including the taxonomy of cyber-attacks and enterprise cybersecurity domains.
The penultimate session was conducted by Dr. Adarsh Kumar from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies. The expert discussed the critical issues being faced by the internet society, such as the open worldwide app security project. Finally, Dr. K. Rajalakshmi from Jaypee Institute of IT, Noida presented on the basic blocks of IOT, security and privacy issues, and the role of blockchain technology in IOT.
The series was concluded by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of DAV University, who highlighted the future and scope of web security to the students.
