DAV University’s Women Empower Cell organized inter-departmental events for girl students and female staff to commemorate International Women’s Day. The event was organized in association with the Department of Sports and Physical Education. The celebrations revolved around the theme “Fit Women Fit India”. Rajwinder Kaur – a noted judo player who represented India in national and international judo events was the chief guest.
Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice-Chancellor (Officiating), said that Women’s Day celebrates the women’s struggle, strength and efforts in maintaining the balance on personal and professional fronts. Dr K N Kaul, registrar (officiating) said that women proved their mettle during COVID pandemic as frontline fighters and caregivers. Dr R K Seth, Dean Academics (officiating) said that women have carved niche in every field and proved themselves as perfectionists.
Students participating in the event fought for supremacy in various sport events including mini football, tug of war, kho-kho, 100m race, 4x100m relay race and special tug of war. Women working in teaching and non-teaching departments also participated in different events.
