The 4th DAV School National Games (Girls) was opened today in the DAV University campus. The Games were opened in the enthusiastically organised inauguration ceremony. Chancellor of DAV University and President of DAV CMC, Dr Punam Suri was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his inaugural address to the students, he said that the idea of any sports event is not only to choose winners or most physically fit but is to create brotherhood and to promote sportsmanship. He stressed that it is only on playground that a level playing field is given to players but everyone of us should try to give this level playing field in our lives to everybody and then should compete.
Many members of CMC, Delhi were present on the occasion including Vice President Pramod Mahajan and General Secretary S K Sharma.
Vice Chancellor of DAV University, Dr A K Paul, Executive Director Rajan Gupta, Registrar Dr Rekha Bhardwaj, Dean Academics Dr Naresh Sahajpal, Director Media Dr K K Rattu and Director Soprts Dr Yeshbeer Singh were also present on the occasion. They are the ones who had made every arrangement for the Games to be a successful event.
Dr Suri also gave examples from recently concluded RIO Olympics where sportsmanship was shown by players and motivated students to play keeping sportsmanship in higher esteem.
He also announced that President’s Medals would be given to three players who would show best sportsmanship. He appreciated DAV University staff for hosted such a big event.
Convenor of the National Sports, Dr J P Shool told the gathering that nearly 2000 girl students would be participating in the Games who have been chosen out of 32000 players(from cluster level). He thanked DAV University for hosting DAV University with such a competence.
Many performances were made by students showing exuberance and energy. A PTI drill was shown by DAV School from Kabirnagar, Jalandhar while a yoga performance was made by Police DAV School, Jalandhar.
The Games were announced open by Dr Suri after the lightening of torch.
