Jalandhar, February 18, 2026: DAV University, Jalandhar student Oorvi Rathour, brought
laurels to the institution by being conferred with the prestigious title of “Best Leader of
Opposition” at the Fourth National Environment Youth Parliament held in Nagpur,
Maharashtra.
Centered around the international climate agenda of COP30, the event witnessed participation
from nearly 400 representatives from across the country. Along with Oorvi, ten selected
students from Punjab actively participated on this esteemed national platform.
Oorvi Rathour impressed the audience and jury with her confident articulation, critical
insight, and strong leadership presence. In her address, she invoked the core spirit of Indian
philosophy, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family), emphasizing that
sustainable development is not confined to policy frameworks but is also a shared social and
moral responsibility. She underscored that India’s traditional worldview can serve as a
guiding force in addressing global challenges such as climate change.
It is pertinent to mention that Oorvi has been actively engaged in environmental advocacy in
Punjab and was previously selected as the Climate Action Ambassador for the Asia Region
by the Commonwealth Youth Council. Her recognition at the National Environment Youth
Parliament is recognised as a historic milestone and the first major success for Punjab in the
history of the forum.
Congratulating Oorvi on her outstanding accomplishment, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar, Vice

of youth leadership that India needs today.”
Dedicating her victory to her alma mater and youth of the nation, Oorvi stated that true
leadership lies in raising the voice of the people and reminding the world of its responsibility
toward sustainable and inclusive progress.
