Jalandhar: The first phase of virtual alumni meet at DAV University was held on 19th May 2021. During the first day of alumni meet, two departments at DAV University, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Department of Chemistry organized virtual alumni meet. Around 100 alumni of the batches that graduated between year 2017 to 2021 in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) attended the alumni meet. In the Department of Chemistry more than 250 students registered and around 200 alumni from all around the globe actively participated in the alumni meet.
The alumni meet provided an opportunity to the students to interact and stay connected with the University. Many of the alumni played an active role in contacting their batch mates, seniors and juniors. The enthusiasm among the students was clearly visible. Alumni shared their experiences and talked about their accomplishments in professional life. There were moments of surprise, happiness, exhilaration and joy when students virtually met with their friends after a long time.
The meet started with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. Dean Academics (Officiating), DAV University, Dr. R K Seth extended his warm welcome to the alumni and appreciated their achievements and accomplishments. He said that our alumni are our representatives and it gives him immense pleasure to see them as confident, committed and competent individuals.
In the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) the event was hosted by Dr. Gagan Deep Aul, Head of the Department of ECE. During the virtual meet our alumni shared their memories and experiences of University life. There were alumni present from various leading corporate houses. Er. Dinesh Nanda (Software Developer at Bell, Canada), Er. Kiranpreet Kaur (Software Engineer, Banking and Financial services, Tieto Evry, Norway), Er. Gaurav Full (Cybersecurity Analyst Level 2 at BNP Paribas, Montreal, Quebec, Canada), Er. Yogesh Khurana (Test engineer, Samsung, Bangalore, India), and Er. Sanchit Ghai (Sr. Developer, Standard Chartered GBS, Chennai, India) among few who brought laurel to the university.
In the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Rekha Gaba, Coordinator, Department of Chemistry welcomed the virtual gathering during alumni meet. Department of Chemistry presented a short video showcasing the old memories of students associated with the department and University. Dr. Sapna Sethi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry also shared the highlights of department’s achievements. New opportunities to facilitate the alumni in enhancing their qualification through newly designed PG Diploma courses like Artificial Machine Learning, International Business and Robotics and PhD programs was also shared with Alumni to re-connect with their institute. Many alumni expressed their views and shared their experiences about the university, department of chemistry and the faculty members of the department.
Vice-Chancellor (Officiating), DAV University, Dr. Jasbir Rishi said that she feels delighted to connect with the students and apprised the alumni about the growth and development of the university over the years. She congratulated the students for holding key positions in various sectors and expressed her happiness on overwhelming response by the alumni. She further said that the virtual platform has become new-norm of practice and we need to be more flexible and accommodative during this pandemic. She said that alumni can contribute in a huge way in taking their alma mater to the next level with their potential and hard work.
Registrar (Officiating), DAV University; Dr. K. N. Kaul applauded the efforts of the Department of ECE and Department of Chemistry. He said that our alumni are the brand ambassadors of our University and efforts should be made to strengthen this relationship in order to ensure multifaceted growth. He also urged the alumni to contribute in enhancing Knowledge and skill domains of the students pursuing education at DAV University.
The alumni interacted with the faculty members and also offered to help the existing students to make them affluent with industry culture.
