A ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON ENDURING RELEVANCE OF RADIO IN DIGITAL
AGE
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at DAV University, Jalandhar,
organized a one-day workshop titled “Power of Radio: From Studio to Society” to
commemorate World Radio Day. The session featured renowned radio personality RJ Garry
aka Gaurav Maini as the keynote speaker. Known for his dynamic presence and engaging
voice, he shared valuable insights from his journey in the radio industry.
Addressing the students, RJ Garry spoke about the evolution of radio from traditional
broadcasting to digital streaming platforms. He noted that radio remains a trusted and
intimate medium capable of creating emotional bonds with listeners. “Radio is not just about
speaking into a microphone; it is about understanding society, feeling its pulse, and
communicating with responsibility,” he remarked.
He also discussed the behind-the-scenes process of radio production, including content
planning, voice modulation, audience engagement, and ethical broadcasting practices.
The session concluded with closing remarks by Manpreet Kaur, Coordinator, Department of
Journalism and Mass Communication, who thanked the speaker and encouraged students to
explore the creative and social potential of radio.
