DAV University Jalandhar organized a webinar on “Basic Concepts of MATLAB and their Applications” under the aegis of the department of Physics. Dr. Ram Jiwari, Associate Professor from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) was the resource person. The lecture was attended by more than 250 participants from all over India.

Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice Chancellor, DAV University blessed the attendees and organizers. Registrar of the university Dr. K N Kaul praised the organizers for contributing a new topic for the webinar. Dr. R.K. Seth, Dean (Academics) of the university introduced and welcomed the resource person. He said that the motive of this webinar was to deliver basic knowledge of MATLAB including some of its applications. Earlier, Dr. Keshav Walia (Coordinator, Department of Physics) started the webinar with a welcome speech.

Dr. Jiwari started the webinar with the basic concepts of MATLAB. Then, some of its applications such as solving linear system of equations, differentiation and integration, ordinary differential equations (ODEs), Partial differential equations (PDEs) were discussed by him. He also highlighted the performing of fast fourier transforms, quadrature, optimization, and linear programming with the MATLAB product family.

In addition, he emphasized on creating and implementing own numerical methods by making use of built-in support for vector and matrix operations in MATLAB language. The entire lecture was very interactive and informative for the participants.
