Survey Camp

Surveying is the fundamental activity to be conducted for the purpose of planning and construction in order to accomplish a project.

Keeping in view its significance, the department of civil engineering conducts a survey camp after the fourth semester making the students to understand the field-based technical activities based upon their classroom learnings. To inculcate experimental-based critical learning in the students, the department conducts the survey camp in hilly areas, so that students are able to understand the topography of a particular location/ place/ region etc. Generally, the department selected Naddi, Upper Dharamsala a suitable area to conduct the survey camp.

The students conduct survey camp using methodologies; such as triangulation, traversing etc. and also utilize modern technologies viz. digital theodolite and total station. A survey camp takes 15 days to finish the fieldwork as per the curriculum in order to prepare the topographic plan of the concerned/ assigned area.

Some glimpses of the survey camps organized by the department of Civil Engineering have been displayed in this document, in which students perform various technical activities utilizing the relevant apparatus.
