Participation: Approximately 74 NCC cadets and 10 PI staffs from various institutions in Jalandhar enthusiastically participated in the competition.
Event Overview: On 26th December, the NCC Unit of DAV University organized a lecture competition titled SANGRAM 1857-1947: Freedom Fighters of Punjab. The event, held as a tribute to the indomitable spirit and sacrifices of the brave freedom fighters of Punjab, aimed to instill patriotism and awareness about the region’s significant role in India’s freedom struggle. The event focused on the topic "1857-1947 (90 years): Contribution of Freedom Fighters of Punjab". Participants eloquently highlighted the struggles and contributions of legendary figures such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Kartar Singh Sarabha, and Udham Singh. They shed light on their relentless efforts against British colonial rule and their inspiring legacies.
Colonel Vinod Joshi addressed the audience, emphasizing the courage and determination of Punjab’s freedom fighters. His inspiring words resonated with the cadets, motivating them to draw lessons from history and embody the same spirit of dedication in serving the nation. The lecture competition witnessed a series of thought-provoking presentations by cadets. Each participant brought a unique perspective, supported by historical facts and anecdotes, making the session both engaging and enlightening.
Awards and Recognition: The event concluded with an award ceremony. The top three speakers were recognized for their outstanding presentations:
- First Prize: Cadet Samridhi Kausal (Lyallpur Khalsa College )
- Second Prize: Cadet Vimal Kumar Saini (DAV University)
- Third Prize: Cadet Jatin (Lyallpur Khalsa College)
All participants were awarded certificates of appreciation for their valuable contributions.
Conclusion: SANGRAM 1857-1947: Freedom Fighters of Punjab successfully commemorated the sacrifices of Punjab’s freedom fighters and provided a platform for cadets to express their views on this significant part of India’s history.
